As we approach the festive season and dream of escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life, we wanted to thank you for your ongoing support.
Because you choose to come on ethical safaris at Chem Chem, we are able to sustainably support our communities and this incredible natural wilderness.
Each booking makes a tangible difference by contributing through the Conservation and Community Fees while staying at Chem Chem Lodge, Little Chem Chem or Forest Chem Chem, and we receive generous donations from our
benefactors.

FEE BREAKDOWN
We believe in transparency, and are open to any questions you may have regarding our Conservation and Community Fees, as well as the optional US$ 50 donation per booking which goes directly to various Chem Chem Associationprojects. In 2019, each guest paid US$ 150 per adult per night. This went towards covering all the Association's overhead costs. By covering these hard costs, further funds were able to go towards advancing the various programmes.
Every $150 can be broken up into:
- $54 for the WMA permit
- $18 to office supplies & space
- $17 for vehicle maintenance
- $10 for staff accommodation
- $9 for staff food
- $42 towards salaries
How have your fees made an impact?
Growing our projects...
ANTI-POACHING a collaborative approach with joint training and patrols with various national and private organisations in our region.HUMAN-WILDLIFE CONFLICT RESOLUTION is a growing concern and one we seek to combat with predator-proof bomas, lion sentinels, elephant persuasion to protect crops as well as educating communities and providing alternative means of support (employment and training opportunities to generate income).
RESEARCH is conducted within a collaborative approach and includes various collaring projects and camera traps for ecological monitoring.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT within a framework of active listening, holistic education, empowering women and children as well as innovative approaches to social involvement. Projects include supporting schools and education programmes, clothing drives, the Chem Chem Soccer Cup and training through tourism.
